DONNA M. BREWER heads the firm's litigation and employment practice groups. Donna's 20+ years as a lead Town Counsel provide the firm's clients with depth of knowledge in the full range of matters of particular concern to municipal government, such as Town Meeting, municipal finance, personnel issues, and local board practice and procedure, to name just a few.

 

Donna got her start in the municipal field by serving as a volunteer appointed member of her town’s Historic District Commission and later as its chairman before being appointed as Town Counsel. In addition to her years of Town Counsel representation, Donna has decades of experience in private and public-sector litigation on such disparate topics as zoning and land use, consumer protection, contracts, and cy pres. She has been a litigator for well over 30 years, with experience at all levels of regional, federal, and state courts and alternative dispute resolution forums.

Donna has been recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer® in the practice area of state, local and municipal law every year since 2017. Donna is named in the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers™ for achieving the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards (AV® Preeminent™).

 

Prior to joining Miyares and Harrington, Donna was a partner in the Boston law firm of Casner & Edwards, LLP and an associate with the New York law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed. She received her A.B. degree cum laude from Middlebury College and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.
